2023 Thanks for tuning in - group exhibition, 4th space, Concordia University
again, again explores themes of attachment, the performativity of objects, collaborative creation and body-object relationships. My initial research question for this work was asking if play could be a means to crafting care for discarded objects. Through embodied experiences with objects we can bring them new lives, letting them become things outside of what we expect them to be.
I facilitated workshops that prompted participants to explore objects through movement. We first observed the objects, then held them, created gestures where our bodies could serve their needs, and finally worked in teams to create fictional designs where objects could collaborate.
The book developed is a result of these workshops. It is a collection of prompts that follow the same stages as the workshops, allowing for this play to become a collective experience. The manual encourages others to indulge in fiction and absurdity, the prompts can be performed alone or together, with objects that you are questioning letting go of.
